Let me start with a special story...Long, long ago when a little boy named Tanner was born, his mommy (me) was having some severe pain in her chest, The pain was so severe she thought she was having a heart attack! crazy? I know however, the pain would immediataly go away after some delightful worshipping of the porcelen bowl. Her doctor dismissed it as heartburn & reflux. It wasn't so bad because it went away shortly there after. However, She got preggers again and had a beautiful & wonderful angel, Rylie. Now this little darling caused tremendous problems for her mommy!!! Since she was about 10 weeks old mommy was having these painful 'attacks'. At first it was once every 2 weeks. Then it was once a week, and soon it was happening twice a week. Fortunatly, she finally decided to get help for her heartburn/reflux. And after some blood test and an ultrasound the doctor discovered she had gallstones, MANY gallstones!!! Finally! She knew what was wrong, however the best way to fix it is have you gallbladder removed! How will she ever live with out it you ask?? Well, essentially, it a very useless organ! The liver can do all of that! Below is a little lesson about such things if you care to know....
The gallbladder is a small sac found just under the liver. It stores bile made by the liver. Bile helps you digest fats. Bile moves from the gallbladder to the small intestine through tubes called the cystic duct and common bile duct.
Gallstones are made from cholesterol and other things found in the bile. They can be smaller than a grain of sand or as large as a golf ball.
Most gallstones do not cause problems. But if they block a duct, they usually need treatment.
What causes gallstones?
Gallstones form when cholesterol and other things found in bile make stones. They can also form if the gallbladder does not empty as it should. People who are overweight or who are trying to lose weight quickly are more likely to get gallstones
So, I am now scheduled for surgery on Monday the 11th. But, this weekend I had a bad attack, and instead of sitting at home & suffering through it I told Russ to call the doctor to see if they could call in some pain meds for me...instead they checked me in to the hospital for the night and said they may do the surgery early. Which might sound great, but I couldn't have Rylie there at the hospital over night with me, so Russ had to go home alone with both kids for the first time. Thankfully Rylie slept all night & didn't wake until 8am for a bottle! Russ made it through! yea! As for doing the surgery early, I choose to wait for my scheduled date because, my mom is coming on saturday & after the surgery I can't nurse Rylie for 2 days. So I'm pumping to save up enough milk for her. And I was freaking out! I'm not quiet ready yet! So now all of you know whay my posting has been so scarce.
Oh yeah, I can't eat fatty foods, oterwise it will trigger an attack. So I've lost like 6 lbs in the past 2 weeks! Which is the only good thing! I fit back in my size 6 pants!!! That's where I was before I got preggers!!! BUT! Before you get too excited! I can't really eat anything good! I have pretty much been eating cereal & skim milk, and fruits & veggies! But I yern for a good stew or something yummy & cheesy! :( oh well. One more week!!!

Melissa! I am SO sorry -- I remember when my dad had a gallbladder attack and emergency surgery, and he was in SUCH pain, and I was horribly, horribly scared and all. (I was twelve. Everything's dramatic when you're twelve.) I hope your surgery goes well, and that Rylie continues to sleep through the night, and that you pump absolutely tons of milk in the next week. We'll be thinking about you --
Wow! That sounds really painful, at least all that pain will go away when its gone, right?? I hope everything goes well. I would definitely wait until my mom was in town. That does NOT sound like fun! I'll be thinking of you!
